Greetings from the Department of Fashion Design, Rayat Bahra Institute of Management (RBIM), Education City, Hoshiarpur (Punjab). Ours is one of the Department established in 2018 in the main campus of RBGI, Hoshiarpur. It started as a single faculty department with a noble cause of imparting higher education in the subject of fashion for the students mainly coming from the rural back ground and impart necessary skills required for the grooming fashion industry in this area, for creating self-entrepreneurs and also churn out academicians and researchers who can take up jobs in educational institutes and fashion Industry. With a small beginning, the path for progress and development was smooth and gradual. Today we are one of the top departments in the area of Hoshiarpur. The department follows the UGC and state Govt. norms in the admission process. We welcome the prospective students and researchers for a useful stint with us.
The department is currently running Under Graduate (UG) Programme, in Fashion Design. The department has experienced, eminent and dedicated faculty to guide and mentor the students’ fraternity. The curriculum is designed for benefit of students and focused on outcome based education (OBE) pattern, with an ease of modifying and updating the syllabus of the course as per the need and up-liftment of the society/industry. The department has excellent state-of-the–art laboratories for performing practical which will be a need from industry.
In today’s scenario of global competition expectations of industries are ever increasing, which are to be bridged by educational institutes. To cater this gap the educational institutes have to work hard. The department in its curriculum has introduced minor courses and foreign languages. This not only will help for the overall development of the students, but also will bring an avenue to build-up a professional career in the corporate world beyond language and skill barriers.
The department takes its fullest efforts for industrial visits, expert talks and training programmes for students and faculty to keep abreast their knowledge and skills in ever updating techno world. In-order to gain an industrial exposure, internship to the students is made mandatory which definitely will prepare the students to be industry ready. For this department has taken an initiative to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with different industries. The faculty members along with UG students generally undertake live industrial problems and provide concrete solution which certainly speaks about the research culture in the department which is the prime motive.The syllabus of the courses is designed in such a way that it provides skill development required to be a successful fashion designer along with entrepreneurial skills to set up their own venture. We also facilitate internships and give students an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in fashion and garment industry.
